Dr. Kamau Kokayi, MD

Dr. Kokayi graduated as a scholar from Cornell University. He went on to receive his Medical degree from Yale University. During his family practice residency for board certification, Dr. Kokayi engaged in the study of classical homeopathy and Chinese medicine. He has successfully practiced these disciplines as an integrative medical practitioner for 25 years.

Dr Kokayi was grandfathered in as a Diplomate in Chinese Herbology by the National Cerfitication Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in 1995. He has taught, lectured, and written on both Chinese medicine and homeopathy. As an integrative medical physician he works with clinical nutrition, weight loss and detoxification, chelation and intravenous vitamin therapies.

Dr. Kokayi has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Downstate Medical Center where he supervised an acupuncture clinic for substance abuse over a 16 year period. He was Medical Director at the Olive Leaf Wholeness Center where he orchestrated a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of those exposed to ground zero. Over one hundred and fifty policeman and fireman were treated with successful outcomes documented in a peer review journal. In addition to the biochemical approach to detoxification Dr. Kokayi uses applied kinesiology and manipulative techniques in his practice.

Dr. Kokayi is the creator and host of Pacifica radio’s Global Medicine Review, airing weekly, Wednesdays at noon, on WBAI 99.5FM. Also, as part of his exploration of world medicines, Dr. Kokayi produced the documentary film “Return”, which explores traditional African medicine.

Dr. Kokayi takes a multidisciplinary approach to solving chronic problems such as fatigue, chronic respiratory illnesses, allergies, gastrointestinal imbalances, musculoskeletal issues, emotional imbalances and environmental illness.
